Communion

Communion:

At St. Aidan's Presbyterian Church we offer two different types of

Communion;Traditional and In the Round. All are welcome to take

communion if you believe in Jesus Christ. Children, with parents

permission, are also welcome.

Traditional: This form of communion highlights that as one body we eat

and drink at one time.

The congregation remains in their seats and awaits being served by

the elders.

The minister will break bread (the body of Christ) and gives the plates to

the elders who will deliver the bread to the congregation. The bread will

be eaten after the elders have been served as well as the minister.

The minister will then announce "the body of Christ broken for you" at

which time all will participate.

The minister will then bless the cup representing the blood of Christ and

the elders will distribute the wine to the congregation. The juice will not be

drunk until the elders have been served as well as the minister.

The minister will then announce "the blood of Christ poured out for you"

at which time all will participate.

In the round: This form of communion highlights that we all eat from the

same loaf of bread (one body) and dip into the same cup...another symbol

of our unity in Christ. The congregation forms a large circle. After the

blessing of both the bread and the wine, the elders deliver a loaf of bread

(the body of Christ) for you to break off a small piece. Another elder will

follow with the cup of wine (the blood of Christ) so that you can dip your

bread in the wine and partake
